The city of Dallas still wants people to give charitably to those in need, but just not to panhandlers.
The city council Public Safety Committee on Monday will hear a presentation to reroute giving through a website, texting and re-purposing some parking meters in high traffic areas.
"Give Right-Dallas" is designed to discourage panhandling in three target areas by changing public behavior surrounding the practice.
Deep Ellum, an area near Preston Center and Highway 12 and Forest & Abrams will be part of the pilot program when it begins in December.
