Dallas County deputy killed in crash

FORNEY -- Two people have been confirmed dead, including an off-duty Dallas County sheriff's deputy, after a crash in Forney.

The head-on collision took place Friday at about 4 p.m. on FM 1641 near Helms Trail, the Dallas County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

Forney police say three men, two from North Texas, were in two different vehicles when the crash took place.

One of them was dead when emergency crews arrived. A second man was taken to Lake Pointe Emergency Services in Forney where he died.

The third man was taken to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas via CareFlite and is said to be alert and stable, according to Forney police.

The names of the victims haven't been released, but officials confirm that one was an off-duty Dallas County deputy.

FM 1641 was closed for several hours while police investigated.
