The traditional anniversary gift for 20 years of marriage is fine China. But if you got married at the State Fair 20 years ago, it seems much more appropriate to have a Cotton Candy Anniversary.
And that's what Glenda and David Schober had Thursday at Fair Park. To celebrate, the Schobers took a spin on the giant Ferris wheel, car No. 40.
"Thank you for all the years," Glenda said to David while on their ride.
"Thank you for saving my life," David said.
"I didn't save your life," said Glenda.
"You did when you married me," he responded.
The choice of car No. 40 was fitting. 20-years ago, as News 8 reported in 1994, that's where Glenda and David were married.
"We both got married in a church before and we both wanted something different," Glenda said to a reporter in a 20-year old clip as to why they got married at the State Fair of Texas.
They're a little older and little wiser today. And maybe, a little bit more in love.
"She's the air in my lungs. That's the way I want to keep it," David said Thursday.
"That's sweet. I love you," Glenda responded.
It's a nice sentiment on a Cotton Candy Anniversary.
