DALLAS — The Continental Avenue bridge closes to traffic starting Monday.
The 83-year-old span — which links downtown with West Dallas and runs parallel to the new Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge — will reopen in about a year, but not for vehicles.
This "landmark civic space" that stretches for 2,000 feet will feature bike and pedestrian paths, a play area for kids, and a plaza, all a part of the Trinity River Corridor Project.
So what should drivers do?
Alternate routes include the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, the Commerce Street Bridge, the Jefferson Viaduct, and the Hampton Road Bridge.
