BLUE RIDGE - The suspect in an officer-involved shooting north of Blue Ridge Thursday afternoon has died, according to the Collin County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect, Larry Russell Hall, 59, reportedly opened fired on sheriff's deputies as they tried to serve a warrant off County Road 580 for a misdemeanor making a terroristic threat charge. The deputies exchanged fire with the suspect, striking him twice.
Hall then went back into his home and shot himself in the head, but was transported in critical condition to Medical Center of Plano.
Larry Russell Hall's mother, Sylvia Hall, 72, was also shot. The Collin County Sheriff's Office said all preliminary evidence indicates the son shot his mother. Sylvia Hall has also transported to the hospital, where she is in stable condition Friday.
Investigators could be seen laying out several guns on the property. The sheriff's office has not elaborated on what initially caused the charge in the warrant.
An investigation involving the Texas Rangers is underway.
