STILLWATER, Okla. -- David Brumfield, a student from Plano who was attending Oklahoma State University, died Monday in Oklahoma City.

Police in Stillwater, Oklahoma, have released no details of exactly how he died.

However, News 8 has confirmed the 21 year old was in a coma on Sunday and was rushed to an Oklahoma City hospital where he died around noon Monday. It is unclear what led up to the original call.

Brumfield was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, and his fraternity brothers, who've been preparing for homecoming, are in mourning at a time when there's usually so much excitement.

One of Brumfield's close friends said he has fond memories of his former pledge brother.

"I just remember the very first day when we were pledges, and signing our bid cards," Connor Davis said. "That's where I met him. Just a great guy, outstanding guy. Always interested in what's going on in your life."

Brumfield was studying to become a doctor.

His funeral is tentatively set for Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Plano.

The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office will work to determine how he died.
