Police confirmed the arrest of Sgt. Paul Figueroa by Murphy police in that Collin County community.
Jail records show that Figueroa, 41, was being held on an $8,000 bond for an assault that caused bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor offense.
Dallas police said Figueroa, an 18-year veteran of the department, was placed on administrative leave while an internal affairs investigation is conducted.
