ANNA -- The roof blew off a barn during a powerful thunderstorm in Anna Friday evening, killing one woman and injuring a man.

Collin County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer John Norton said the roof was blown off and landed on the pair.

The damage occurred at FM 2862 and County Road 427 in unincorporated Collin County at about 5:05 p.m.

The man, reportedly in his 60's, was transported to a McKinney hospital, then transferred by air ambulance to Parkland in Dallas. Flight medics described his injuries as multiple fractures, and described him as alert and oriented.

The woman was also reportedly in her 60's.

News 8 Meteorologist Pete Delkus reports the strongest storm cells were clustered several miles northeast of the barn, and were at their strongest around 4:45 p.m. when winds reached 45 miles per hour.

The Anna Fire Department responded to the scene.

We've received no other reports of damage in the area.

The National Weather Service's only other damage report in North Texas Friday were two power poles snapped due to high winds near Lake Amon Carter in Montague County.
