McKinney mom arrested after baby left in hot car

MCKINNEY -- A mother has been arrested after she left her baby in a hot car in McKinney.

Police were called at about noon after a concerned citizen saw a baby left alone inside a car in the parking lot of a Target on N. Central Expressway.

The citizen broke the car window to get the baby out. The child, whose age hasn't been released, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The baby's mother, 27-year-old Kimberly Rosario, was arrested and faces a charge of abandoning/endangering a child. She told officers she forgot her baby was in the car while she went inside to have an eye examination.

The car temperature measured 130 degrees when the child was rescued.

"Parents are reminded in an effort to avoid forgetting children in the back seat to place their cell phone, purse, or brief case in the back seat near the child as a reminder," McKinney police said. "These injuries and deaths are easily preventable with a few simple steps."
