Arrest made after child hurt in Grand Prairie hit-and-run

GRAND PRAIRIE — An arrest was made Saturday in connection with a hit and run that injured a 5-year-old girl.

Kendrick Johnson was arrested by Irving police and is expected to face a felony charge of Failure to Render Aid, according to the Grand Prairie Police Department.

The 5-year-old-girl was struck and run over around 8:30 p.m. Friday in a parking lot of a Budget Suites of America near Riverside Parkway in northwest Grand Prairie.

The child was rushed to Dallas Children’s Medical Center in serious condition.  Officials put out a call for help in locating a dark green 2000 Honda Accord EX coupe with a Texas license plate FPZ-5179.

Late Saturday, police said the child was still in serious condition but expected to survive.
