Carrollton teacher accused of secretly recording girls at school

Carrollton Police arrested George Edwin Thomas III Thursday morning on six counts of invasive recording.

The R.L. Turner teacher is charged with using concealed recording devices to video female students in various stages of undress without their knowledge during the 2015-2016 school year.

According to Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD's website, Thomas was a science teacher at R.L. Turner.

Detectives have identified six students Thomas had recorded while on the school's campus. According to an arrest warrant, Thomas' girlfriend found the USB drive containing the recordings at their home.

WFAA obtained the following statement from Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD regarding Thomas' employment:

"On Wednesday, February 22, 2017, officials with the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD were made aware of allegations of inappropriate conduct by a teacher at R. L. Turner High School.

The district placed the teacher on administrative leave and is cooperating fully with all local and state authorities."

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Thomas has been a teacher at R.L. Turner for the last three school years and previously worked at Castleberry ISD. Records show he has been certified to teach since 1996 but no previous investigations of misconduct.

On Thursday his bond was set at $90,000.
