Boys electrocuted by downed power line honored and remembered

Fort Worth brothers remembered for living with 'joy, purpose and love'

FORT WORTH -- Two brothers who died in a tragic electrocution accident last week are being remembered for living with "...joy, purpose and love," according to an obituary.

Family for Alex and Isaiah Lopez, ages 12 and 11, held a visitation and evening service on Sunday to honor the two youths. They will be buried on Monday afternoon.

Hundreds of mourners streamed into Greenwood Funeral home throughout the day to pay their respects.

Both boys were playing in an east Fort Worth park on Wednesday when they came across a downed power line.

Alex somehow got mixed up with the line in a wooded part of the park. Isaiah rushed to help his brother, but both ended up being electrocuted and died at the scene.

Their family has spent the past five days trying to push forward in the wake of the tragedy.

“We’re all still in shock, and we’re all hurting,” Jorge Lopez, the boy's uncle, said.

A family spokeswoman said on Sunday they thanked everyone for their support.

A GoFundMe page to help the Lopez family pay for final arrangements has raised around $23,000.
