ARLINGTON -- A bicyclist was killed in a crash involving a tow truck driver in Arlington Monday night.
At about 6:35 p.m., officers were called to the 200 block of North Collins Street, just south of AT&T Stadium, after an ambulance driver in the area spotted a man in his 30s lying in the road with a bicycle nearby.
It appeared the man had been hit by a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital where he died.
Meanwhile, police said a tow truck driver was responding to a crash in West Arlington when he noticed damage to his truck. He told a police officer that it may be related to the crash with the bicyclist.
Police determined that the tow truck driver had been stopped at a stop sign in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue. He turned south onto North Collins Street, and "there was contact between the truck and the bicyclist," police said.
"Officers have not determined the exact positioning of the bicyclist at this time. The driver is cooperating with investigators. Detectives will need to continue examining roadway evidence, statements made by the driver, and check for any surveillance video footage that might have captured the incident to determine what happened," police said.
The bicyclist's name will be released once his kin has been notified.
