Katy Hayes is waiting for the call that will change her life.
She is a quadruple amputee. She lost her arms and legs four years ago after she contracted a flesh-eating bacteria shortly after giving birth to her daughter. Since then, Katy and her family have moved from Texas to Boston, where she awaits a rare double arm transplant.
It’s been a difficult time for the family, both emotionally and financially. To help ease her stress, Katy has taken up painting.
Those paintings are also helping the family make ends meet. Janet St. James has been following Katy’s progress. She joined Shelly Slater on News 8 at 4 with an update.
