VAN ZANDT COUNTY — A 63-year-old woman was killed in an explosion at a residence in rural Van Zandt County on Sunday evening.

The Van Zandt County Fire Marshal said the explosion was caused by a leaking propane line.

The incident happened around five o'clock, south of Interstate 20 along Farm-to-Market Road 47, about 50 miles southeast of Dallas.

The fire marshal said a fire followed the residential explosion.

Officials at the scene said four people live at the house, but no one else was home at the time of the blast.

Police said they are familiar with the house, and have been called there before.

Multiple fire departments and law enforcement agencies were still at the scene hours after the explosion, tackling hot spots.
