DALLAS — Police said a disagrement over gas money led to a the death of a young woman in Northwest Dallas early Sunday morning.
Police spokeswoman Senior Cpl. Sherri Jeffrey said 24-year-old Yunvel Aguilar of Dallas had gone to a nightclub with her cousin, Kassandra Martinez. Witnesses said Aguilar and a witness agreed to help Martinez, 20, pay for gasoline because she was driving.
There was a disturbance at the nightclub, and Martinez allegedly left alone —with the purses of Aguilar and the witness in her trunk.
Aguilar and the witness got a ride and found Martinez at a nearby gas station. As Aguilar was standing behind Martinez' car, waiting for her to open the trunk, Martinez allegedly became upset because she was told by the others that they were not going to help with gas money.
Witnesses said Martinez then allegedly backed up rapidly, running over Aguilar; she then drove forward, running over the victim a second time.
Aguilar was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where she died.
Martinez fled the scene, but was apprehended a short time later and charged with murder.
Bond was set at $150,000 but she was also being held on an immigration charge.
