IRVING -- A woman was stabbed by her husband Friday morning at Irving Cares, a non-profit agency.

The victim, Sharon Elizabeth Gooden of Irving, was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Her husband, Roy Lee Gooden, 47, was booked into Irving Jail on one count of murder.

Police responded to the stabbing call at 10:29 a.m. and when they arrived at the scene in the 400 block of South Nursery they found the 55-year-old victim dead of stabbing wounds. Her husband was being detained by a security guard.

According to investigators, the husband and wife arrived at the location together, and an employee told police the suspect became angry for an unknown reason and started stabbing the victim.

Irving police said in a release the investigation is ongoing, and motive is unknown at this time.
