DALLAS - Dallas police detained a woman for arson after a fire at the Palm Meadows Apartments overnight.
Police responded to a 911 call at the apartments, located on the 7500 block of Chesterfield Drive in South Dallas, just after 1 a.m. Monday morning.
The residents had all safely evacuated and firefighters had the blaze under control within an hour.
No injuries were suffered by residents or firefighters.
A total of eight units were made uninhabitable, though only two sustained fire damage. The American Red Cross is helping the displaced.
Investigators determined the fire started in the master bedroom of an apartment on the first floor of the two-story building.
A suspect, who has not been identified, was taken into custody and is waiting to be charged with Arson of a Habitation, a first-degree felony.
