DALLAS - A massive amount of water sprayed onto a Dallas apartment building after a water main break created a large hole in the complex's parking lot late Friday afternoon in the 7500 block of South Loop 12.

Residents at the Trinity Trails Apartments watched as water gushed onto the roof of the two-story building, spilling over the sides.

Residents said they noticed a leak in the street early Friday morning.

"The water was bubbling, just bubbling," said Patricia Tinnion. "Bubbles were coming from all up under the ground and about an hour ago they came and got me and said my house was flooding out."

Just after 4 p.m., the main broke, shooting water into the air and into Tinnion's apartment, breaking windows and soaking everything.

"The rocks itself was going over the roof of my apartment into the park, and the kids thought it was raining rocks," she said.

Firefighters with Dallas-Fire Rescue came to the scene shortly before 5:30 p.m. to protect the area around the hole. The water main was shut off just before 5:40 p.m..

Some damage to the building, including blasted-off shingles, could be seen from the outside.

Tinnion was moved to another apartment.
