A Dallas family is grieving the death of their loved one, who was only blocks away from home, when he was hit and killed.

The Bellard family is really having a hard time with this loss, as they just lost their father two weeks ago.

Paul Anthony Bellard, 45, was killed last night.

Police say he was trying to cross Bonnie View Road at about 10 p.m., when a motorcyclist slammed right into him.

The motorcyclist, 38-year-old Lashon Hudson, also died after his motorcycle went airborne, hit a curb then slid underneath a DART bus, parked at the intersection.

Bellard's mom said having just lost her husband of 48 years, she never thought she'd lose the son she affectionately calls "little Joe."

To neighbors, he's "short dog," the one they often see walking the neighborhood, always looking to make them smile, as his sister Merridith explains.

"We're going to miss him because everybody knows him for singing. He goes round the neighborhood and sings. He sings and makes funny noises and jokes," she said.

"I am going to miss my son. I am going to miss him," said Marie Bellard.

She said the last time she saw her son was when he stepped out last night, just before 10 p.m.

The Bellard family says they will stick together to get themselves through this.
