DALLAS - Police in Dallas arrested two suspects in connection to the shooting deaths of two men at about 11 p.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

According to an arrest warrant, the incident began with an exchange of gunfire between at least four men during an attempted robbery at the San Mateo Forest Apartments in the 7100 block of San Mateo Blvd.

Two men, later identified as targets of the robbery, suffered fatal wounds in the exchange. Witnesses told police four men, one of whom was shot, fled the scene in a red vehicle. Two of the suspects were later spotted at a gas station on the service road in the 11000 block of LBJ Freeway.

Dewen Vann Knight was arrested and a man who identified himself as Carl Russell was transported to Baylor Hospital with a gunshot wound.

In the warrant for Knight's arrest, police said the suspect confessed to the crime with Russell after waiving his rights. According to the alleged confession, the men planned to rob the victims of drugs. Knight said Russell and another man he only identified as "Patrick" were the gunmen in the shooting.

Authorities are searching for the the third suspect.
