ALLEN — Allen police arrested two men on murder charges Friday in the death of a 21-year-old cricket player found stabbed at Ford Park.

Police say Richard Garrett Hughes, 18, and Jefferson Josue Medina-Diaz, 21, got into an argument Wednesday evening with Agha "Faran" Khan over space on a basketball court.

The dispute escalated into a fight that led to Khan’s death, according to police. A tire tool recovered at the scene was believed to have been the weapon used to stab Khan.

A family member said Khan would go to Ford Park to practice cricket, a sport for which he had great passion.

He was barely conscious, with a stab wound under his armpit, when he was found near the park's basketball courts, police said. He was pronounced dead Wednesday night at Medical Center Plano.

Sgt. Nicole Shaw of the Allen police department said witnesses reported hearing an argument shortly before Khan was found.

Khan, a 2006 graduate of Allen High School, attended Collin County Community College. He played cricket with the North Texas Cricket Association.

Hughes and Medina-Diaz were being held on $200,000 bail each at the Allen city jail, awaiting transport to the Collin County jail.

The police ask that anyone with additional information about the crime call the Allen Criminal Investigations Division at 214-509-4239, or 214-727-TIPS.
