Trophy Club new development site
TROPHY CLUB, Texas - You'll find thousands of apartments scattered across North Texas, but not many in the town of Trophy Club.
Visions for the town of 8,000 people continued to differ late Thursday night.
The battle comes down to a proposed commercial development along Highway 114 and Trophy Club Drive that would include a high-rise apartment with up to 350 units.
A meeting began at 7 p.m. Thursday to discuss the issue before a vote from the town council on whether or not to rezone the property.
While many support commercial development in the area, the apartments are a sticking point.
Some residents say it will place a burden on local schools and drive down property values. However others see it as an opportunity for increased revenue for the town.
Neither side wanted to budge.
At 10:30 p.m. a spokeswoman said she thought the meeting would continue for another hour and a half. It was unclear if the council would make any decisions on the matter Thursday night.
