CEDAR HILL — Fire at a residence in Cedar Hill claimed three lives Sunday morning.

A man, a woman, and their adult son died in the blaze at a single story brick home the 1000 block of Suffolk Drive.

The fire broke out in a front room around 7 a.m.  A neighbor broke down the front door in a courageous attempt to save the family, but the flames and smoke were too intense.

When paramedics arrived, one person was dead and the other two died a short time later at a hospital.

Neighbors said the father worked as a nurse at a hospital. Many in the subdivision said the family was quiet and friendly.

"It's rough, that's rough... right next door," said neighbor Shonnon Lewis. "I mean, you hear about it in the newspaper, on the news, online and stuff, but for it to actually happen right next door kind of hits close to home and it allows you to put things in perspective."

City officials said there is nothing suspicious about the blaze, and that arson has been ruled out as the cause.

The names of the victims have not been released.
