DALLAS — The S.M. Wright Foundation hosts its 11th annual Christmas in the Park for residents in the South Dallas-Fair Park community on Saturday.

Hundreds of people went to Fair Park overnight to get tickets for the event that opened at 9 a.m. at the Automobile Building.

This year, toys will be distributed to more than 10,000 children. Clothing, household resources and food was being prepared for more than 40,000 underprivileged families.

"I think it's sad that we have to do this," said Ellen Roberts. "But it's a good thing that we have people out that's willing to help and make sure that the kids have a great time at Christmastime."

The S.M. Wright Foundation accepts monetary donations on its Web site.
