FORT WORTH ― Texas Christian University fans are getting over a tough week losing their first ever BCS game. But a die-hard fan is still furious.

It's not TCU's performance that disappointed Jason Jones.

"I'm still furious about this," he said.

Jones and his stepfather had Fiesta Bowl tickets and hotel reservations in Phoenix that they paid $1,500 for, but United Airlines never got them there.

"I was in the airport a total of 11 hours," Jones said.

His United flight left DFW late because of an electrical problem, but that same plane was delayed at its stopover in Denver where it had a mechanical problem and the lavatory began leaking.

"Then the pilot opens the cockpit door and says, 'You're not going to believe this guys, but this plane has a major water leak,” Jones said. “This plane's not going anywhere.'"

Jones never got to the game. He said the airline only offered to fly him back to Dallas.

"It was almost comical,” he said. “When I was in line at customer service I actually asked myself out loud, 'Is this a dream? Is this a nightmare? When am I gonna wake up?'"

After News 8 inquired, United Airlines has now offered to reimburse him for the flight, his lunch at the Denver airport and give him two $400 flight vouchers.

But Jones wants his bowl tickets paid for too ― for a championship he always wanted to see and couldn't imagine he would miss.

Experts suggest flyers always build an extra travel day in their itinerary to get to a specifically timed event like the Fiesta Bowl just in case of plane problems, severe weather or airport delays.
