DALLAS — There were no Trinity Railway Express trains operating from Dallas Union Station during the Tuesday evening rush hour due to a switching problem.

TRE trains from Fort Worth could only travel as far as Victory Station until repairs were made.

DART initially advised passengers to use Red and Blue Line light rail trains to the Green Line bound for Victory Station for the transfer to waiting TRE trains.

Later, DART established a "bus bridge" to shuttle passengers directly between Union and Victory Stations.

The TRE resumed service from Union Station with the 9:20 p.m. departure.

The record-breaking heat was compounding delays for transit customers. TRE trains were again forced to operate at reduced speeds for safety reasons; excessive track temperatures mandate slower speeds between stations.

TRE trains were running up to 45 minutes late on Tuesday, and delays were expected to continue all week as the triple-digit temperatures show no sign of letup.
