Is casino gambling the solution to the state's budget deficit?
Gubernatorial candidates Rick Perry and Bill White don't think so, but a new poll shows that's not the case with voters.
Many North Texans head over the border to Oklahoma to gamble legally.
A new Rasmussen report shows 57 percent of people in favor of making casino gambling legal in Texas to help reduce the state's budget deficit. Some 33 percent oppose making gambling legal, while 10 percent are undecided.
It's not the first time the lure of making casino gambling legal in Texas has surfaced, but the momentum this time is certainly sizable.
It comes at a time when the gubernatorial candidates are talking about the need for major budget cuts.
The same survey that found the majority of people who support legalizing casino gambling to balance the budget also are against new taxes to solve that problem.
Sixty-eight percent say they oppose new taxes.
