DALLAS - Storms that swept through North Texas overnight and into the late morning brought hail and led to power outages across the area, and more storms are expected in the evening hours.

As of about 5:45 a.m., Oncor reported 3,579 power outages in the Dallas area and 2,898 in the Fort Worth area.

A construction worker was injured this morning when lightning struck a machine he was touching at the time, authorities said. The incident happened in the area of East Northgate Drive and Rochelle Boulevard in Irving. He was transported to Parkland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Damage was reported across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In Plano, a two-story home was left with a gaping hole in the roof after a storm passed through.

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra canceled Wednesday night's Community Concert because of bad weather. The event was scheduled at Kidd Springs Park and there isn't a rain out site available. The concert will not be rescheduled.
