TERRELL — The search for an escaped prisoner ended Wunday after he was found in Palo Pinto County.

According to other inmates, Michael Rimmer, 33, fled from a private prison transport van after it stopped for fuel near Olney, southwest of Wichita Falls.

Kaufman County deputies, state troopers and Kaufman police joined in the search for Rimmer, who was being returned to Florida on drug charges, after it was initially thought that he had escaped at a convenience store near Terrell.

Authorities refocused their search in the Olney area, where Rimmer's leg shackles, handcuffs and T-shirt were found on Saturday afternoon.

He was tracked down Sunday more than 35 miles away in Palo Pinto County.

Rimmer's criminal history includes assault, burglary, theft and possession of narcotics.

He has no known ties in Texas.
