The City of Richardson was going on the offensive Sunday night as workers began a spraying program mosquitoes that was scheduled to continue on Monday night.

The mosquito assault was launched after some insects tested positive for West Nile virus. Mosquitoes are known to transmit the disease to humans.

The spraying program is focused on three areas:

  • Arapaho Road south to Spring Valley Road; Coit Road east to Central Expressway
  • Renner Road south to Lookout Drive; Plano Road east to President George Bush Turnpike
  • Breckinridge / Toler Park east to Murphy Road; Aberdeen Drive south to Pepperidge Drive
