Poll:
Do you think Mayor Knight should step down?

LANCASTER - A group of citizens gathered at the Lancaster City Council meeting Monday night to ask the mayor to step down after his arrest last month in Grapevine.

"I'm going to ask you to do the responsible thing, resign," one resident said before the mayor.

Mayor Marcus Knight was arrested for driving under the influence on November 15. The mayor was pulled over by an officer around 1:20 a.m. along Highway 26 in Grapevine. Police said his blood alcohol level was greater than or equal to .15.

At the meeting, Knight called citizens to the microphone.

"How can somebody who is supposed to make decisions for the city, how can he be trusted to make decisions for everybody else with that careless act?" said one resident who stepped forward.

"I feel like there should be some sort of  motion to impeach or a vote for no confidence because at this moment, I don't have any confidence," said another.

Supporters also attended the meeting.

Knight did not respond.
