LEWISVILLE LAKE — Rescue teams from Lewisville and The Colony pulled a man from Lewisville Lake on Sunday evening and rushed him to a local hospital.
Billy Jenkins, 38, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses said he had been under water for about an hour.
Jenkins was with family members when he went under at a swimming beach around 7:15 p.m.
Semira Taha, who saw the victim being pulled from the water, said she was concerned that the beach is unprotected.
"We're asking the city or the county to have a lifeguard for the safety of our kids," she said.
