WAXAHACHIE — The recreation of a fatal accident on southbound Interstate 35E near Waxahachie spurred traffic as drivers were forced to exit Wednesday afternoon.

Traffic was backed up at least 3.5 miles on the interstate near Highway 77.

According to Sgt. Lonny Haschel, 24-year-old Robert Farrar, of Plano, died in the crash on Nov. 4. Officials from the Department of Public Safety said Friday that Farrar's vehicle was hit from behind by a tractor-trailer.

Haschel said authorities were recreating the accident to find "causative factors of the crash."

The recreation was over by 1 p.m. and lanes reopened.

EDITOR NOTE: Sgt. Lonny Haschel initially reported that Farrar struck the 18-wheeler, causing the crash.  Friday, the Department of Public Safety corrected the report saying the investigation found the 18-wheeler crashed into Farrar's vehicle.
