MESQUITE - A Mesquite pre-schooler whose long hair drew a lot of attention went to school Tuesday ready to blend in with his fellow classmates.

Taylor Pugh, 4, was in in-school suspension at Floyd Elementary since November because his hair violated school policy.

His mother, Elizabeth Taylor, decided to comply in the interest of education. Pugh's long locks were french braided close to his head, and school officials allowed him back in the classroom.

"[The] french braid seems to be a lot less stress on his scalp," Taylor said. "We should be able to keep it up. I am still going to pursue taking action against the school, though. I don't want to see this happen to someone else's kids."

Taylor said she will keep her son's hair in the two french braids, and change it to one when it gets longer.
