KAUFMAN — More than 200 people took part in an emotional prayer walk around the Kaufman County Courthouse early Sunday afternoon.

The event was organized by local churches.

Families walked in solidarity around the courthouse — some publicly praying. Others raised their hands, and some people sang hymns.

Pastors said the event was a way to bless the community's public officials and to honor the memory of murder victims Mark Hasse and Mike and Cynthia McLelland.

Hasse, a top prosecutor, was killed on January 31 as he walked from his car to the courthouse.

The McLellands were found slain in their Forney home on March 30.
