The same suspect may be behind a series of robberies of men driving high-end cars in the Uptown area of Dallas and in Highland Park, Dallas police say.

Seven seemingly related cases have been reported between Oct. 29 and Tuesday. In each instance, an armed man targeted a motorist. In some cases, the drivers were forced to withdraw cash from automated teller machines.

"All of these happened in the evening, and the victims were parked either getting out of their car or into their car,” said Senior Cpl. Janice Crowther, a police spokeswoman.

Police say several of the vehicles were later found in the Love Field area.

"We recovered four of the cars near Hudnall and Lemmon streets, and found that some things were missing from them," Crowther said.

The carjacker has targeted a Mercedes, a Range Rover, a BMW and a Toyota 4Runner.

The victims have all been men between 22 and 39.

In three of the six cases that occurred in Uptown, as well as the one Highland Park case, the robber stole the vehicle in addition to the money from the ATM. Other items, including a Dell laptop and a pair of Nike shoes, were also stolen.

In Tuesday's case, a gunman approached a man who'd just parked his black 2004 Saab in the 2500 block of Fairmount Street about 7:30 p.m. The vicitm started running when he saw the assailant's gun and escaped uninjured.

In one of the earlier robberies, late on Nov. 5, a motorist had just parked in the 2700 block of McKinney Avenue when a gunman demanded his keys.

The victim dropped his keys and backed away, but the robber ordered him to pick them back up and get in the driver’s seat, according to a police report.

The gunman forced the man to drive to an ATM and several other places and at one point ordered him to give up his wristwatch. Finally, the robber got out to rob another man, leaving the first victim to speed away and escape.

The suspect is thought to be a Hispanic in his mid- to late 20s who weighs 220 to 260 pounds and may have a tattoo on his right forearm and a light goatee or mustache, according to an internal police bulletin.

He is armed with a blue steel semi-automatic handgun.
