PLANO — North Texans went shopping Saturday to support a Plano online fashion editor who was critically injured in a propeller accident last weekend.

Several businesses in the Shops at Legacy North in Plano agreed to donate a portion of Saturday's profits to the Lauren Scruggs Hope Fund. Others offered collections jars for donations to help pay for Scruggs' medical bills.

The 23-year-old's work brought new business to the area, and store managers said the benefit was their way of giving back.

"I think what is so special about Lauren is so many people know her and love her," said Greg Bohn of Spa Habitat. "She's touched so many people in the fashion and beauty industry, and through her church and through her school, and really the whole community's rallied around her cause today."

Scruggs lost a hand, and could yet lose an eye after walking into a propeller last Saturday at a McKinney airport.
