PLANO — The City of Plano announced plans Tuesday to move to Stage 2 water restrictions this Friday, August 19.

The restrictions are aimed at an overall 5 percent reduction in water usage, with limitations placed on outdoor watering.

Stage 2 restrictions mean outdoor watering on only two assigned days a week, and none between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

According to a news release from the city, the restrictions will enable Plano’s water storage system to recharge its water supply and therefore ensure consistent water pressure for public safety needs. The use of drip irrigation systems, soaker hoses, or watering by hand is not restricted on any day or time.

Residents of Plano will be notified of their neighborhood watering days and hours by notes attached to their refuse carts. A water conservation page on the city's Web site has detailed information on the restrictions.

Courtesy warnings will be given to persons observed violating the watering restrictions as the city promotes the importance of compliance, according to the release.
