DALLAS — Dallas Fire-Rescue confirmed that a pedestrian was struck by a Dallas Area Rapid Transit light rail train at Dallas Union Station Wednesday evening.
The extent of injuries to the individual was not immediately known.
DART spokesman Mark Ball said the accident happened as a northbound train operating without passengers was pulling into the station. Ball said a man standing at the edge of the platform apparently fell in its path.
Ball said witnesses reported seeing the man step onto the tracks.
DART said all rail passengers should expect delays as a result of the incident.
DART's Red and Blue line trains stop at Union Station, but any delays on those lines could also impact the Green and Orange lines which share tracks through downtown Dallas.
The Trinity Railway Express also operates from Union Station, but on tracks separate from the DART lines.
