DALLAS - There have been four armed robberies in four weeks on Dallas' lower Greenville, all on side streets where it's dark.
Dallas police have extra patrols in the popular entertainment district, but some people are still nervous when night falls.
Because it’s so busy on Greenville, many people are forced to park on the dark side streets. Brinne Bosco is a waitress. She has to park her car at least two blocks from where she works.
“I mean, at night when we get off, it's scary, but usually I'll walk with my keys sticking out," she said.
In recent weeks, robbers have jumped out of dark places and held guns to people's heads. The last robbery happened on Bell Avenue on Tuesday.
“You are like scared, walking around nervous," Shaina Bowers said.
For Jose Rios, the robberies bring back bad memories. He was attacked and robbed five years ago on Greenville.
“A guy jumped out and opened the door and grabbed me, and they put the gun right here to my head," Rios said.
He said he relives that night over and over.
"They hit me with the gun and I ended up with six stitches and this scar, from where they hit me with the butt of the gun," Rios said.
He, like many others on Greenville, told News 8 the problem is, there aren't enough lights and robbers can easily hide.
“Because it's dark, especially like if you walk the sidewalk," Bowers said. "It's really dark at the end of the night."
“There are some lights, but it's dark, and we need more for sure," Bosco said.
The neighborhood association said they too feel there needs to be more lights, and plan to lobby to get more.
