FORT WORTH — More than 200 students and staff gathered at Paschal High School Saturday night to remember a classmate who died unexpectedly over the holiday weekend.

Rick Sek, 15, drowned in the pool at the Lockheed Martin Recreation Association on Friday night. He was a member of the Paschal band, and his band director remembered Rick's genuine enjoyment of music.

Many mourners at the candlelight memorial wore purple ribbons, the color for Paschal High.

The school will have counselors on hand Tuesday when students return from the holiday weekend.

Paschal Band students have ordered memorial bracelets that say, "We Play for Rick," and they are seeking contributions to help his family offset the costs of a funeral.

The Paschal Band Boosters organization has activated an emrgency fund accepting online PayPal donations for the Sek family.

In addition, band members will request donations in Rick's name from fans at the Paschal-Heights football game on Friday.
