COPPELL - Parents have spent days camping out in Coppell as they hope to secure a spot for the children at the district's New Tech High School.
Out of the 135 available slots, 40 are for legacy commitments and the balance is split between first come, first serve and the lottery.
On Friday at about 6 p.m., prospective learners are invited to come out and join their parents for the last night of the camp out and a meet and greet hamburger cookout. Starting at about 6:45 a.m. Saturday, tent city will come down so parents can line up by 7:30 a.m. for registration, which begin at 8 a.m.
News 8 Daybreak's Shon Gables reports from the scene.
