CARROLLTON — Northbound I-35E near Whitlock Lane reopened after a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning diverted traffic for nearly eight hours in Carrollton.

All northbound lanes were closed off after the crash scattered debris across the interstate, forcing northbound traffic to exit at Crosby Road.

The accident occurred just before 2 a.m. Tuesday when an 18-wheeler struck a car and then hit a median. The truck turned on its side, spilling fuel and its load of steel pipes.

The southbound lanes were also temporarily shutdown, but reopened at about 6:40 a.m.

Carrollton police reported both drivers involved in the crash were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
