DALLAS -- A new luxury bus with first class seats is rolling between Dallas and Austin, letting business travelers work and ride at the same time while avoiding the hassles of the airport.
Vonlane announced last month that it would launch an executive motor coach service on May 5, featuring a six-seat conference room, Wi-Fi -- even its own steward.
A one-way ticket is $100, and the bus will make four trips daily between Dallas and Austin five days a week. The service is meant for professionals who are often traveling, Vonlane said in a release on Wednesday.
The company said the trip will take three hours, the same amount of time as an airplane flight when you factor in security lines and parking. Plus, there are no baggage fees.
“We created, in Vonlane, a more dignified way to travel that helps business people reclaim the productive hours that are typically lost when flying or driving between Texas cities,” said founder and President of Vonlane Alex Danza.
The bus will have 16 seats-- no middle! -- and comes with free refreshments. There will also be satellite radio and television for those hoping to take a break from work.
In Dallas, the Vonlane bus will be stationed at the Wyndham Hotel, and in Austin, the bus will take off and arrive at the Hyatt Regency.
Vonlane said in its release that the company hopes to expand its services to Houston and San Antonio in the future.
In contrast to MegaBus, Vonlane's new service is specifically geared toward business travelers, and the price never changes depending on how many passengers are on the bus.
