FORT WORTH — Some really good neighbors put on a benefit Saturday for a family affected by domestic violence.
Martha Baker and her two sons can no longer live in their home on Fandor Street in far west Fort Worth after police filled it with tear gas during a standoff with the father on October 29.
The neighborhood held a fundraiser to help make the home livable again for the Bakers.
"We know the family is in need, and we wanted to do everything we could do to help out," said Jim Christensen, who helped organize the event. "Short of us just digging into our own pockets, we thought it'd be a lot easier for more people to give a little than a few people to give a lot.
The garage sale had a band, a barbeque, a raffle and even a bounce house. Neighbors have also established the Fandor Street Benefit Fund at Chase bank.
