A man was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Kaufman County early Sunday morning.

Authorities said the crash happened just before 2:30 in the 6000 block of West U.S. Highway 80. Department of Public Safety spokesman Trooper Kyle Bradford said a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV and a Chevy pickuip truck were both traveling westbound when they apparently collided with one another while traveling side-by-side.

The pickup truck, driven by 29-year-old Christopher Newton of Forney, rolled over and caught fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tahoe, with two people inside, also rolled over. Holli Penn, 25, of Garland and 26-year-old Mathew Bagley of Balch Springs were taken to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas for treatment.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, Bradford said.
