LANCASTER - On Friday, more than 500 people paid their final respects to the six victims of a Christmas day shooting rampage.
The memorial was held at the Cedar Canyon Dude Ranch, which was owned and operated by one of the families that was shot and killed. It was also the last place where many friends saw the family. They had hosted a Christmas celebration there on Christmas Eve.
Traditional Persian cuisine was served Friday as poems were read in both English and Farsi. A slide show featuring pictures of all six victims brought tears to many of the guests.
Rather than focus on the tragedy that took their lives, friends wanted the memorial to be more of a celebration.
"I want us to celebrate their lives, the wonderful people they were, their beautiful lives and all of the lives they touched," said one speaker.
Family members who couldn't make the trip the U.S. held their own memorial services in Iran.
