Explosives scare
LAVON — An explosives squad from Fort Hood removed a mortar round found in the back yard of a vacant Lavon home on Saturday.
A cleaning crew found the possible explosive in the 800 block of Lake Shadow Drive on Friday; it appeared to be an old military ordnance.
Plano's bomb squad asked for the soldiers' help, and nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.
