Two people shot
ROWLETT — Police in Rowlett are investigating a violent crime they are calling "bizarre."
Two people were shot Sunday afternoon and detectives are looking for two others.
The Christiansens saw it all unfold on the other side of the 9300 block of Shearer Street. They said a man and woman walked up to their neighbor's door.
"They were kicking it in viciously," Joan Christiansen said.
Neighbors heard a lot of yelling between the couple and two men in the residence, and two children were also inside.
"There was an altercation; a pretty good battle going on inside," said Rowlett police spokesman Sgt. Dean Poos.
Police say furniture was turned over. Christiansen said the fight moved from inside to outside on the lawn, and the yelling continued.
"She goes, 'Kill them all!' She said, 'Kill them all!'" Christiansen recalled.
By then, neighbors said someone in the home pulled out a gun. Neighbors reported hearing around five shots.
Police said the man and woman who came to the house were hit. As police tended to them, they claimed to be victims of a robbery.
"It's a matter now of trying to figure out what story is the accurate story of the two we have," Sgt. Poos said.
Police are still looking for two men; they believe one of them lived in the house on Shearer Street.
Police said a gun was found in an area a block away from the home.
"It's scary, it's very scary," said neighborhood resident Janet Harris. "You don't want people to treat each other this way."
The man man who was shot suffered multiple wounds in the abdomen, and was airlifted to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas for treatment. He underwent surgery on Sunday evening.
The woman, who was shot in the shoulder, was treated for her injury and released.
